Chocolate and cake are my two favourite things, so ya’ll knew this was coming.
Here’s my recipe for a super easy and extremely delicious, double chocolate loaf cake.
Oh, I forgot to mention – this recipe requires just 1 bowl, a few simple ingredients and comes together in about 1 hour. Yes, dreams do come true.
The obsession is real.
Preheat the the oven to 180C (Gas mark 4).
Line a loaf tin with baking parchment and set aside.
In a bowl, combine the softened butter and sugar. Beat until light and fluffy then add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift in the flour and baking powder, then add the milk, cocoa powder and vanilla extract. Beat until combined.
Melt the chocolate over warm simmering water, let it cool slightly then stir into the mixture. Once combined, pour the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the centre of the oven for 45 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
Take the cake out of the tin, place on a wire rack and let it cool completely before decorating with icing and pecan nuts.
