So, since there has been a lot of hype about Greggs bringing out a vegan sausage roll, I’ve decided to make my own. WITH A TWIST! Guys, let me present you with my hot dog style vegan sausage roll recipe.
There is only one word to describe this recipe: INSANE.
These delicious vegan sausage rolls could not be simpler to make. They are the perfect party food and they are sure to go down well at a picnic with family and friends.
This recipe uses ready-made puff pastry because let’s be honest – we are all about simplicity here. If you are feeling adventurous, you can, of course, make the pastry from scratch. I tend to reach for a box of ready rolled pastry sheet – they are so affordable and most of them use vegetable fats instead of butter so are suitable for vegans. I tend to use Jus Roll or ASDA own brand.

- Bursting with gooey, melted vegan cheese
- So satisfying
- Like a hot dog…but better!
Think: crispy onions, tangy mustard, gooey cheese and delicious vegan sausage encapsulated in warm, golden, flaky pastry. Need I say more?
Hot Dog Style Vegan Sausage Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 roll ready-made rolled puff pastry
- 6 vegan sausages
- 2 tbsp crispy onions
- 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp sage
- 1/2 tsp garlic granules
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp soya milk
- 1 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 6 tbsp grated vegan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180C | Gas Mark 4. Line a baking tray with baking parchment and set aside.
- In a bowl, mash the sausages using a fork. Add the breadcrumbs, sage, crispy onions garlic, thyme, paprika and black pepper and mix to combine.
- Unroll the pastry onto a floured surface, and spread the mustard using the back of a spoon. Shape the vegan sausage mixture into a long sausage and place on top of the mustard. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the sausage, then roll the pastry over the sausage and seal using a fork.
- Cut the roll into 2.5cm lengths and transfer onto the baking tray.
- In a small mug, mix a little milk and olive oil and brush each sausage roll.
- Bake in the middle of the oven for 20-25 mins or until golden.
