If you are looking for a green smoothie bowl recipe that is simple, customisable and delicious, look no further. This healthy, detoxifying bowl is packed with vitamins, is easy to make and it is super tasty, too.
Let’s be honest. There are a lot of green smoothie bowl recipes out there. And yes, this is a very basic one. However, it is super versatile. You can add other fruit and veggies if you wish but remember, in order to keep it green, try to stick to green fruit and veg and avoid things like beetroot, blueberries, cherries etc. I find that kale, celery and spinach work well in green smoothies, but some people are not so keen on the taste. If you haven’t got any apples, you can swap them for pears or something sweeter, like mango.
The difference between a smoothie bowl and a smoothie is the consistency. Smoothie bowls are a lot thicker, kind of like an ice cream, whereas an ordinary smoothie is a lot thinner and usually sipped with a straw. To make the smoothie thicker, I usually throw in half an avocado (or a whole avocado if it is small). You will not be able to taste the avocado in the smoothie but, if you don’t want to use one, you will need to freeze your fruit before blending to achieve a similar consistency.
